      <image:title>Home - Who are we?</image:title>
<image:caption>Sole Bay Care Fund is a local community charity foundered to aid support and care of residents, to meet health and social needs not funded by the NHS or Social services. We work alongside other organisations and groups to support the local community within the Sole Bay area. Our main aim is to try to ensure gaps between health and social care needs are met in our area. The fund is predominantly for those patients registered with Sole Bay Health Centre, Reydon, Southwold. In the past we have also been able to support a wider range of projects which have aided the community in different ways. However, we now focus our resources and funds towards short term, urgent, direct care for the older population and palliative care in their own homes. This has been led by the current increased push for care in the community and the sometimes-limited services in our area which are often at risk of becoming overwhelmed. Please email us for more information or contact us at Solebay Health Centre if you are in need and feel we may be able to help. If you have received care or support from our charity, please kindly consider a donation so we can continue to help others</image:caption>

He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries. When not striving to keep his patients happy and healthy, he’s enjoys hiking with his family in Rock Creek Park.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Trustee I have lived in Southwold/Reydon since 1966, when my parents moved here to take on a business. Since living here I have been involved with the Brownies, Rainbow and the VHC. As my parents became older and less able, I needed more help to care for them. Sadly my parents both passed away, Dad in 2010 and Mum 5 years later in 2015. Sole Bay Care Fund and the Health Centre provided wonderful care and advice. I decided to help with fund raising for SB Fund 'to give something back'. Sadly, my husband who had many complex health issues became very unwell and I needed lots of support. I experienced first hand what Cathy and her team, and Sole Bay Care Fund, was able to provide with the extra care and support I needed, through this very difficult time. I had been a 'fund raiser’ for SBC Fund for a few years and when my husband passed away in 2018 I 'had my arm twisted' to take on the role of Secretary. I really could see the difference Sole Bay Care Fund was making to our community and I had no hesitation in accepting this role, which I really enjoy. I take every opportunity to promote the work of the fund as it makes a huge difference to our local community and so many have been able to benefit from the extra care and resources they have received.</image:caption>

Most of all numerous keysafes have been installed. We are pleased to have been asked to join the committee and look forward to being part of an essential commodity.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Founder of the charity - retired I came to work in Southwold in 2005, initially to work alongside Dr Andrew Eastaugh in developing an educational project. I quickly recognised that the team at Southwold Surgery were different. They had a vision and dedication to their community that I had not seen before and I felt I wanted to be part of this ‘family’. During this time I was also experiencing the role of a ‘carer’, both my parents had been ill, my father had passed away and my mother had advancing dementia. As a carer, I experienced some pretty difficult times and when I really needed help, needed a break, or just someone to support me, I was pretty much left to my own devices to sort it out. Eventually, a nursing position became available at Southwold Surgery and my new journey began. I restarted my career as ‘hands on nurse’ rather than in the managerial/consultant role that had initially brought me to Southwold. It was great to be back on the front line, face to face with patients and carers and working with a team that would always go that extra mile. With the support of the Southwold Surgery Team I was then able to start Sole Bay Care Fund. I was determined to be able to provide additional care and resources when they were needed, and where they were needed in a timely and practical way. As a carer it can be a very lonely place and it is vital that we care for the carers as well as those we care for. I have enjoyed all the fund raising challenges that have tested me physically and mentally, but I hope these have also inspired others to just ‘go for it’. The Sole Bay community have embraced the charity and with their help we have truly become a ‘community that cares’, offering extra care when it is most needed, at home or as near to home as possible.</image:caption>
